I would like to declare a moratorium on all records with more than 12 songs. Sometimes even 12 is too many (like the last U2). I don't care about the CD not being full. Just give me your best stuff. Unless they are fifteen 2-3 minutes songs (like "Double Nickels on a Dime"), then don't bother me with your half-assed ideas. Just put down the good stuff.

A good review Uncle Mike. i just listened to this myself,(SIDE NOTE: if y'all havent been to www.lala.com yet you should check it out. a buddy of mine turned me on to it. you can listen to whole albums all the way through once for free, without having to download any crap. Thats where i listened to the new green day.) and not only is Know your enemy repetitious but the whole record just seems to run together in one blur of power chords and overly pretentious lyrics except where they brake to go to the carnival. in regards to that carnival song thats what happens when you put 18 songs on an album. I bet if you looked up all the albums in the history of music with 18 tracks there would be a carnival song on all of them. pretty poor attempt by green day from the music to the album cover, um guys blur used a similar picture for their 2003 record Think Tank. come to think of it that record sucked as well.

Actually - I was afraid of this. That's why I had not downloaded it yet. I think I feared the worse when one of our older friends in town - someone who doesn't really listen to newer music - said it was "genius". Then there was the truly dull performance on Saturday Night Live. On American Idiot, Billie Jo didn't TRY to make some amazing statement. He just wrote an album of rock music.
